What if William Morris known AR technology?

Augmented reality (AR) also known as Kudzi, is a live direct or indirect view of a physical, real-world environment whose elements are augmented (or supplemented) by computer-generated sensory input such as sound, video, graphics or GPS data. It is related to a more general concept called mediated reality, in which a view of reality is modified (possibly even diminished rather than augmented) by a computer. Make gallery a shopping mall?

We want to give audience sense of shoping in this gallery.  After people scan the drawing of WM, the background will disappear and then the patterns turn into some products. People can buy it from dragging it into the trolley.  After they finish the visit, they will receive a postcard with a message on it–’We are not saying that you should not buy things you like. But before you do that, just think whether you really need it. Because your decision provokes mass production’. More

Primary Research Here is the mind map of our primary research. We made a mindmap to analyse his background, works, theories, and come up with some initial ideas. My part is mainly to gather his artworks. I had a idea that we can separate patterns of his work and people can interact with them. For example, they can change colours, shapes, or even use these patterns to create their own artefacts. More

First Impression of William Morris

We learnt about his work. He is amazing because he is not only an artist but also a poet, textile designer, novelist, translator and socialist activist. There are some of his works in the gallery and some interactive activities for children and adults. My initial idea is to make a “diy patterns”app. We seperate those patterns like kinds of leaves, flowers, birds, from the masterpeices of WM, audience can use these elements to create their own patterns, They can change the colour, size, and arrange the layout. Here is the poster I made according to his quotes:… More
